EDINBURGH, Scotland. – Aviagen® East Africa successfully hosted its annual Training Module Program from October 6 - 10, 2025, at Ole Sereni Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya. The event brought together poultry professionals from across the East and Central Africa region for a week of intensive learning, practical workshops, and networking.
The program featured a robust agenda covering key topics in poultry production, including data handling, broiler nutrition, hatchery KPIs, machine calibration, grading, and disease management among others. Participants also engaged in breakout analysis, case studies, and team presentations which fostered collaboration and real-world problem-solving.
The event concluded with team presentations, performance evaluations, and an award ceremony celebrating the outstanding achievements of the teams throughout the week.
Reflecting on the experience, Technical Sales Manager at Pharmsave Enterprises Ltd., shared: “I would like to sincerely thank the Aviagen East Africa team for the invaluable opportunity to participate in the training program. The sessions were highly informative and insightful. We gained practical knowledge on how to use data to identify and address various technical issues at farms and hatcheries. We also learned about key performance indicators (KPIs) for hatchery management, egg breakout analysis for evaluating hatch results, and effective presentation skills to enhance communication and reporting. I am truly grateful to Aviagen for providing such a well-structured and impactful learning experience.”
Alice Tendega from Silverlands Tanzania emphasized the training’s broader impact: “The Aviagen training model is extremely valuable for both the participants and the industry as a whole. I would strongly recommend that this training be conducted regularly as I’m confident that many people from the farms to the hatcheries would greatly benefit from it. I am from Tanzania, where the poultry industry is growing rapidly and it is important for farmers to be equipped with knowledge through trainings like this.”
“The successful completion of our second Training Module marks another significant milestone for the East Africa region. This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting local customers by equipping them with the knowledge and practical skills needed to raise high-performing flocks and achieve optimal returns on investment. Aviagen East Africa has already supplied over 2.5 million Parent Stock birds to the region from Tanzania, and through these trainings, we continue to strengthen local capacity, enhance productivity, and promote sustainable poultry development. The outstanding results being achieved demonstrate that the Ross® 308 continues to deliver exceptional performance for our customers. These achievements have also enabled many of our customers to qualify for the Ross Breeder and Broiler Executive Clubs, where they are recognized for their impressive performance results. We look forward to building on this momentum with future Training Modules, which we plan to host annually to ensure continuous learning and lasting impact across the region.” commented David Bailey, Hatchery & General Administration Manager, Aviagen East Africa.
