Edinburgh. – Aviagen® Anadolu held its third laboratory training for customers across the Middle East and Africa (MEA) from 27-31 May in Ankara, Türkiye. The training was held at Aviagen Anadolu’s recently renovated state-of-the-art ISO 17025 accredited veterinary laboratory. The local team welcomed customers from four countries, including Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Zambia and Jordan.
The five-day event was led by Dr Mehmet Uvey, Laboratory Manager, Aviagen Anadolu and his team. Joining the team were guest speakers Magdalena Szymańska-Krzywda, Poultry Business Development Manager, BioChek, and Stuart James, Feed Mill Microbiologist, Aviagen Ltd.
Participants were presented with diagnostic case studies and informative presentations throughout the training. All participants were selected from the distributors within the region in order to improve their laboratory skills and to learn new techniques through bench work and background theories. The training was entirely customized for all delegates and was focused around a questionnaire that was sent out to all in advance to understand what the areas of interest were.
Wilson Mwitwa, Laboratory Manager, VetLab Ltd, and Beauty Mphande, Laboratory Technician, VetLab Ltd, commented: “We would like to express our gratitude to Aviagen for arranging this informative training. During the five-day training, we had the opportunity to spend some time in the labs, witnessing the processing of real samples. The Aviagen Anadolu lab team were very patient with us all, trying to accommodate everyone’s needs and ensuring everyone fully benefitted from the training. The knowledge we gained from this training will allow us to improve our processes within our laboratory.”
“Aviagen believes that training is of key importance for education purposes, providing customer support and technology transfer. It also allows all levels of the supply chain to have access to the latest knowledge. I believe all attendees at the lab training will leave with an insight into key topics such as equipment calibration, and standard operating procedures for each test, and the quality control measures applied in our lab, including serology, bacteriology and the molecular departments. I look forward to the next training session which will be held in 2026,” added Mehmet.
