Rodrigo D’Amen and João Heron Ribeiro share practical management strategies to support local poultry success at International Seminar
CAMPINAS, Brazil – Aviagen® Latin America was proud to take part in the XIII International Seminar on Poultry Science, hosted by the Bolivian Association of Veterinarians Specialized in Poultry (AMEVEA), held July 23–25 at Fexpocruz in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia. The event brought together poultry professionals from across the region to exchange knowledge and strengthen the future of poultry production in Bolivia.
Sharing practical insights on breeder management
On July 23, two Aviagen specialists took the stage to provide in-depth advice on key management topics. Rodrigo D’Amen, Technical Services Manager for South America Excluding Brazil (SAEB), spoke about the importance of precision in the rearing phase for male and female parent stock. He explained that small gaps in this stage can have a significant impact on the flock’s future performance, adding that “rearing demands precision and small gaps in this phase can affect the poultry flock’s full genetic potential during reproduction.”
Following his presentation, João Heron Ribeiro, Regional Supervisor for Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Bolivia, shared a holistic approach to achieving high fertility in breeder flocks. He stressed that no single factor guarantees success, and that “consistent, informed decisions across every step of the production chain” are key to optimal fertility. His session underlined the need for coordination in nutrition, husbandry and environmental management.
Building relationships through informal exchange
To complement the technical sessions, Aviagen hosted the seminar’s lunch event on July 23 for 400 guests, creating a relaxed space for customers to meet the team, ask questions, and share their experiences.
Bolivia’s poultry sector on the rise
Bolivia continues to stand out as a strategic poultry market. It is making great strides in the adoption of modern genetics, gains in flock welfare and productivity, and the sustainable growth of its poultry sector in its ongoing stride to feed local families with affordable, nutritious chicken.
“We are committed to Breeding Success Together with producers in Bolivia and across South America, and we’re here to offer practical, science-based guidance to help them get the most from their Ross® 308 AP flocks,” said Jairo Agostini, commercial manager for Aviagen for South America Excluding Brazil (SAEB). “By working side by side, we can find solutions that match the realities of local production and support long-term success.”
