Exclusive event marks start of local operations and showcases investments in poultry production, biosecurity and innovation
CAMPINAS, Brazil – On April 15, Aviagen® Argentina welcomed more than 50 leaders from the Argentine poultry industry to an exclusive event in Campana. The meeting marked the official launch of local operations and offered a closer look at the company’s growth strategy across Latin America.
Ivan Pupo Lauandos, President of Aviagen Latin America, shared insights into the region’s growing role in global poultry production. “Latin America now represents 18.2% of the global broiler breeder placement, with nearly 117 million parent stock females placed in 2024,” he said. “We’re confident in Argentina’s potential growth and are investing in production capacity, biosecurity and innovation to ensure quality and biosecurity across the entire production chain.”
Investing in Argentina for the future
Since establishing its Argentina subsidiary in 2020, Aviagen has made major strides in expanding its local presence. Recent investments include the modernization of the San Juan farm – now capable of producing 1.7 million breeding chickens annually – and the completion of a new hatchery with an annual capacity of 2.1 million chicks. In total, the company has invested US$ 22.1 million in Argentina between 2020 and 2024.
Alejandro Golin, General Manager of Aviagen Argentina, outlined the company’s focus on high-performance genetics, robust biosecurity, and security of supply. “Our operations are fully up and running, not only serving Argentina but also supplying neighboring countries like Uruguay, Bolivia, and Paraguay,” he noted.
