BANGKOK, Thailand. – Recent times have been tough for poultry producers throughout Asia and around the world. For this reason, during the Indian River® Training Academy (IRTA) in Bangkok, the Aviagen® Asia Indian River team prepared an agenda of beneficial topics to support the theme, “managing during challenging times.”
Taking place during Oct. 24-27, the training sessions focused on various areas vital to Indian River grower success, emphasizing the importance of paying attention to detail, especially under high-pressure circumstances. It highlighted careful management during the critical period during incubation and brooding to give chicks a good start to life. It also showed the current performance objectives as a valuable Grandparent, Parent Stock and broiler benchmarking tool, as well as current performance trends. Additionally, students examined precision feeding and how to maintain flock health and good nutrition amid high feed prices.
These are just a few examples of the beneficial and relevant conversations during the IRTA to help Indian River growers in Asia Pacific strengthen the performance, welfare and efficiency of their flocks in the face of challenging market conditions. Specific sessions were broadcast live to extend the knowledge transfer to wider teams and those unable to travel.
“We are dedicated to our Indian River customers and understand that knowledge is essential to their success,” commented Dr. Daniel Gomes, Indian River Brand Manager for Asia Pacific. “Given the current hardships caused by world events, it is now more important than ever for them to have the tools and information to skillfully manage their birds for the best-possible results.”
“It was rewarding to once again meet with our valued Indian River customers. The Academy offers a unique opportunity, not only for us to share the latest news and developments, but also for Indian River producers to network with one another and exchange ideas on current challenges and opportunities,” said Greg Hitt, Regional Technical Manager for Aviagen Asia.
“This year’s IRTA was filled with useful information that I will be able to take home to optimize the health and efficiency of our flocks and the success of our business,” remarked Sandi Sapta, Farm Manager, Japfa Comfeed Indonesia.
Md Mahiuddin, Senior Agricultural Manager of Production and Hatchery at Provita Group, added, “On behalf of the Provita family, thank you to the Indian River team for organizing this beneficial training. We appreciate the knowledge and insight to optimize our success with Indian River birds.”
“This is a good event, and we appreciate that information is customized to our region, and also to keeping our competitive edge in the global marketplace, especially during these challenging times,” expressed Dr Win Lwin Oo, Operation Manager, P.S. Breeder Farm, Japfa Myanmar. “We look forward to IRTA 2023!”
